Following the conclusion of this year's winter olympics, the games will return to taking place every two years, starting with paris for the 2024 summer olympics.

Many significant events in preparation of the 2026 winter games will happen over the next six. A total of 40 sports are in the olympics, including 32 in the upcoming paris 2024 summer olympics and eight in milano cortina 2026, the next winter olympics.
